Ladies in Lavender

Been addicted to lavender recently... has been using lavender air freshener, lavender mask, lavender scent, been admiring paintings of lavender and a liking for the colour too!

Watched a movie titled: "Ladies in Lavender" on channel 5 about 2 weeks ago... but it remained deeply etched in my mind.

Before i move on to introduce the movie... i actually went to the doctor today. (loser!)

Cos last night i was having a splitting headache and my left cheek looked like i had hidden a ping pong ball in it.

And yes... i was really upset with the bill.

$45..

Why didn't i studied to be a doctor -.-"

Zhen hao Zhuan

Turns out it was gum infection... and it had spread to my throat. The doctor's look of disgust said it all. It was worse than expected.

No hard chewing for 2 weeks! bye bye chocolates, sweets, bubble tea (the pearls ma)....

sigh...

Let's move on to the movie shall we??=D

Ladies in Lavender (it has moved me deeply... i'm sure it does to you too:))

Setting:
Cornwall
in the 1930s
After watching this movie I wanna live here

Plot (from wikipedia.org):
In 1936, two elderly sisters, Janet (Maggie Smith) and Ursula (Judi Dench), living by the shore in Cornwall find a young man, Andrea (Daniel Brühl) washed upon the shore. The sisters lovingly take him into their home and care for him while he recovers. They discover he is a talented Polish violinist. Both of the sisters become enamored with the young man, leading to an almost possessive guardianship towards him, especially Ursula (my favourite character), who experience love for the very first time in her life, in Andrea.

The characters:
Andrea

Janet & Ursula

A young Russian woman, Olga Daniloff (Natascha McElhone), the sister of famous violinist Boris Daniloff, becomes interested in Andrea after hearing him play the violin. As time progresses, Olga and Andrea grow closer. Olga tells her brother of Andrea's talent, and he requests to see Andrea in London. Although Andrea cares deeply for the sisters, he knows that this is his chance to start his career. He leaves with Olga, without even saying goodbye to the sisters.

In every movie... there's always a villain(Olga).. mm not exactly one she is.. but she tried to take Andrea away from the 2 old nice ladies.. so i don't like her. But Andrea seemed to be fond of her...

So i don't wanna post her picture here.

I actually was hoping for Andrea and Ursula to be together... although it was highly impossible because of the 50 years age gap.. but i feel so sorry for Ursula.. who broke down when she learnt that Andrea has left.

The scene when Andrea plays the violin for the 2 sisters was simply breathtaking.

Perhaps if Ursula was 50 years younger... they might have a chance together.. but the author of the story never wanted a happy ending to begin with..

I don't like Andrea after the movie ends... he should have at least visited Ursula before he left and tried to repay her kindness in some ways.. but

movies always make us think and reflect on such things...

I wouldn't say i like this movie a lot.. but i feel for the characters in the movie... it all seem so real.. i could feel the hurt Ursula felt... the pain of letting go Andrea..

sigh..

At the very least Ursula has had a wonderful experience (love), and she had met someone who has touched her heart, injecting her once plain life some feelings of enthusiasm and hope.

"They saved a stranger from the sea and in return he stole their hearts."
